Give epilepsy a sporting chance

Falkirk East MSP Cathy Peattie is calling for people with epilepsy to be given a sporting chance.

Cathy, who is a member of the Cross Party Group on Epilepsy, said:

“40,000 people in Scotland are living with epilepsy. Given the World Cup and Wimbledon, this year’s slogan is quite appropriate.

“The focus of the campaign this year is young people and epilepsy. We want young people to learn about epilepsy so that there will be less fear and social stigma, and better public attitudes to epilepsy.

“Young people with epilepsy need better support making the transition from child to adult services. This transition can be very stressful, at a time when they ought to be living their lives to the full.”
